BONDED INSERTS, PATCHES AND GRAFTS

When your carpet is damaged, with rips, tears, cuts, pot plant rot or bleach, and cleaning is not an option, a bonded insert style carpet repair can be a very cost effective way of restoring the finish of your carpet.

Both backings are cut so the complete section is removed and a new piece inserted. We seal the edges to prevent fraying, and then use the same seaming tape as used in carpet installation, ensuring the repair should last the life of the carpet.

The amount of wear and fade on the carpet and the donor piece will dictate the level of invisibility achieved with any specific repair.

Sometimes in minor cases of damage, just the top face of the carpet is damaged, as in the case of a pulled thread along a join or similar. Most tufted carpets have two backings to give them dimensional stability and strength. We can remove the face yarn and top or primary backing and graft in a new top face from spare carpet.

If you do not have left over carpet, or mats, or they don’t match, we can often take a small section out of a wardrobe or cupboard and fit a piece of replacement carpet in it’s place and use that for the repair.

SEAM REPAIRS

As your carpet ages, it often requires expert maintenance to keep it looking great, prevent trip and fall hazards and generally extend its life to achieve maximum return on your investment. Two major issues that can arise in carpets include firstly, seams breaking down, especially in high use/wear areas and secondly, carpets becoming slack causing ripples know as rucking. Seams will sometimes break down with time and use and if they do and we’re called before any extensive damage occurs, we can often take the seam up, remove the old seaming tape and clean up the edges by trimming them back and seam sealing them before re-stretching the carpet to re-join for a new seam. However, if the damaged seam has been left too long causing further tearing a carpet repair is a great option.

CARPET RE-STRETCHING

Over time, a carpet installation may slacken and the room becomes loose or ripples can occur known as rucking, these are ridges appearing and developing, particularly in higher use areas like hallways etc.

The room usually needs emptying of most furniture and the carpet can often be successfully re- stretched. These type of repairs require an onsite free inspection to assess job requirements and we will provide you with a free assessment and quote.

We also offer re-tufting/sewing of pulled threads, replacement of broken and damaged naplock bars and other carpet repairs.
